Cape Fear QDMA - Won't You Join Our Team?
The Cape Fear River Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) has received National Recognition 3 years running or the
wildlife experts. Fulfilling this core mission of the QDMA is accomplished entirely through volunteer support and at a minimal or no cost to
participants:
Full-day white-tailed deer workshops, held in cooperation with local universities, government agencies, and experts from QDMA
Free presentations to civic organizations on management of white-tailed deer in the urban setting
"Hunter Education Mentoring Program," a comprehensive, full-year hunting heritage programpromoting safe and ethical hunting practice
and enthusiasm for the outdoors for new hunters of any age.
E-newsletters containing educational outdoor and hunting-sports related articles of interest to area QDMA members.
These events are funded through raffles, our annual charity fundraiser, and through tax-deductible REACH donations from community-minded
supporters - such as yourself!

CAPE FEAR RIVER BRANCH QDMA
The species and rates of plants included in a seed blend is an important consideration when
planting food plots. Corn and soybeans represent the backbone of many food plot
programs for white-tailed deer across the country. Over the past few years, planting
Roundup-Ready® corn and “beans” together in a mixture has become a popular practice.
Normally, about 40 pounds of soybeans are planted with about 10 pounds of corn per acre.
However, is this the best rate and/or strategy? For example, does 2 acres of a corn/bean
mixture produce as much forage and/or grain as 1 acre of corn and 1 acre of beans planted
